Miss Floriel Florean
Floriel Florean was born circa 1874 in South Africa. She joined the Society of Women Journalists in June 1912.
Florean was best known as a South African contalto singer, performing South African folk songs in England. She also collected and translated Africaans music, some of which she recorded on gramophone records with an orchestra. A supporter of the suffrage movement, Florean donated a percentage of her performance earnings to the cause.
Florean died in 1942 at the age of 68.
